A Home Away From Home

Colonel's Retreat is a one-stop-shop in Jammu for all your homely needs away from home! Started by an Armoured Corps Colonel, the home stay is based on the lines of an Indian Army Cavalry Regiment incorporating the regiment's ethos, values class and panache. The guest will experience the way of life of a Cavalier, including the warmth and hospitality that the cavalier is known for world-over.

The home stay offers pick and drop facility from the airport, railway station or bus station. To make the stay more comfortable, Colonel's Retreat offers home cooked food, organic vegetables from the farm, laundry (paid service), free wifi, conference facilities, large gathering lunches and office retreats and 24 hour power back-up. We also provide extra bed facility in every room at an additional cost.

Visiting Jammu - Renowned as city of temples with attractive surroundings, a perfect destination for those looking for secluded atmosphere, Jammu is located at the foot hills of great Himalayas and is the winter capital of the state Jammu and Kashmir. It is believed that Raja Jamboolochan founded this exotic city in 14th century BC. The city, which figured in ancient epic Mahabharata, was named first as Jamboo, but later it has become Jammu. History and archeological evidence says that Jammu was the integral part of Harappa civilization.

Jammu city is known for its ancient temples, imposing palaces and historically renowned places. To list a few important attractions Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple, Raghunath Mandir, Gauri Kund Temple, Bahu fort, Amar Mahal, Amarnath caves,  Mubarak Mandi Palace complex, Gadhadharji Temple, Dogra Art museum and many more. Surinsar Lake is a natural attraction here.

Adventure sports are the main characteristic of this amazing city. Tourists are challenged with many opportunities like mountaineering, nature walks, trekking and Rafting. Patnitop, Kishtwar, Krimchi and Sanasar are some of the adventure spots.

We at Colonel's Retreat also organise visits to tourist and regilious places and would request our guests to kindly inmitate us on their travel plans so that we can plan a perfect holiday for them.

For us, guests are an extension of our family, and we guarantee them a royale stay - the Cavalry way !!

  3. When landed first at the place and checked in i was alone and my family joined later. the first thing i did after checking in was calling my wife and told her do not worry aboiut anything. i am at a home away from home. i stayed at the Colonel's retreat for more than a week with my family. I have a 1 year 9 months daughter and i was worried about her diet and food. but the staff took very nice care of each and everything. The food menu was decided as per my preferences. Everything was taken care of so well that we were just there. The location is also good as there are 4 green parks very near. Distance from Airport is just a ten minutes drive & railway station is a just a 5 minutes drive. I thank colonel for the homely stay.

  6. What a fantastic stay !! I travel around the world and chanced upon the Colonel's Retreat. It is truly home away from home. Firstly I must confess that the food is delicious and not for a moment did I think I was away from home. Secondly the rooms are spacious, very well decorated and you can tell from a distance that the grace and charm of the army is well reflected in the home stay. The food was prompt, the service very friendly and of course the Colonel is unmatched in his hospitality and charm. Five stars for this property.

  9. I have been travelling all my life but this time it was the strange fear. My 92 yrs old father yet again wanted to attend a wedding and meet all the relatives in Jammu during the 3 days that I could spare to fulfill his desire. While I could manage the Rajdhani train tickets even with the upper birth allotted to him by the sadist computerised booking system it was the staying arrangements at Jammu that were bothering me the most.

I decided to make use of makemytrip.com. Among a lot of options I chose Colonels Retreat Home thinking that I can not get a better deal from anybody than a Fauji . Planned pick up early morning by colonel himself, arranging a personal room at ground floor even when I had not given him any indication of fathers age and a nice home made breakfast were enough to make our first impression of this wonderful couple Randev and Babli who run this facility.

I never expected that this trip would be so interesting. With centrally located facility and little time management all the desires of my father were fulfilled and guess what ?.....he had food of his choice and round the clock service available to him.

We had thoroughly enjoyed this trip and looking forward to another visit soon....this time to visit famous holy temples and a visit to Mata Vaishnev Devi.

  10. very pleasant stay with lots of comfort & delicious home made food !!!”

we checked in at 06:00 am in morning in colonel's retreat although it was way before the usual check in time at any hotels. and to our surprise we were given luxurious suite Commander’s Hut ,it was exceptionally generous welcome you can ever imagine.
we stayed for 5 nights and it was a wonderful stay , it is very clean and the rooms are as good as 5 star rooms. we were very happy with the service.
I would recommend this hotel to each and everyone travelling to Jammu.
The spacious rooms, all aptly named with Army themes, had an old world charm and luxurious enough to please all.
the manager took care of every little need that was popping on our table and we were swept off the floor by the entire staff.
we enjoyed the atmosphere, Jammu and people around, an absolute memorable experience.
I recommend. And i can say with complete assurance that this colonel's retreat personifies service that can become a fitting example for any Hotel in the world city.

  12. I along with my family stayed at colonels retreat for a week and we had a very comfortable stay. The rooms were very well decorated and beautifully arranged. The washroom was very hygienic and clean. The transportation facility provided was pretty good. The home cooked food was excellent especially the butter chicken of which we missed to collect the recipe. The staff was very much supportive and they used to get sweet dishes for my 1.5 yr old kid. The colonel himself personally took care of all things. I happened to forget my mobile charger while returning back and the colonel had couriered it to my home address.
Thanks to Colonel Parmar and Family for the wonderful stay provided.

  13. I along my wife and my friend and his wife stayed at Colonel's Retreat on 20 the Aug. 2015 for a night. As our train on that day was late by 7.30 hours late and we reached Jammu late night at 2.30 but Col. Parmar was their to receive us at the station. This , I think only Col Parmar can do. As for our stay at their place it is beyond words what Col. Parmar has provided. Even the rooms was pre - cooled so that we would not be delayed for our sleep. It is beyond our imagination. Thanx to the brave heart Colonel Sahib who took care of all of us. As we were to leave for Leh early next morning , he took us to the airport as early as 6.00 am. What to say of Col. Parmar's courtesy that we would like to stay every time we go to Jammu. ....Prathmesh Jain
